Meetings

Members of the public are entitled and are welcome to attend all open meetings of the Council and its Committees. In certain circumstances as defined in the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 the public may be excluded from certain parts of a meeting.

For meetings of the Council, its Standing Committees (except the Hearings Committee) and Community Boards, Council has adopted a six weekly cycle and all meetings, with the exception of the Community Boards, are normally held in the Council Chamber, District Council Building, King George Place, Timaru. Access after 5.00pm is via the car park off Barnard Street.

Council Meetings
These are held on the Tuesday two weeks after Standing Committee meetings, usually starting at 2.00pm.

Standing Committee Meetings
Resource Planning and Regulation Committee followed by Community Development, District Services and Policy and Development Committees meetings are held on Tuesdays.

Hearings Committee
Meets as required depending on applications and appeals received.

Community Boards
Currently the three Community Boards within the Timaru District meet as follows:

Geraldine
On the Wednesday, a fortnight prior to the Standing Committees, at the Geraldine Service Centre, at 7.30pm.

Pleasant Point
On the Tuesday, a fortnight prior to the Standing Committees at the Pleasant Point Town Hall, at 7.30pm.

Temuka
On the Monday, a fortnight prior to the Standing Committees, at the Temuka Service Centre, at 5.00pm.
