Joining the Library

How to join

Membership of the Timaru District Libraries is free for all residents and ratepayers of the Timaru District.

Please bring identification when joining the Library eg Drivers Licence, Passport, Bank Card etc. For a full list of suitable ID click here.

Your Library card ensures that you can borrow from any of the District Libraries at Timaru, Temuka and Geraldine. There is no limit to the number of books you can borrow.

To speed the joining process you can print off a copy of the membership form and have it ready before you arrive at the Library if you wish.

Subscription Members

If you do not qualify for free membership to the Timaru District Libraries you can pay an annual subscription to join.

Subscription Charges

$7.50 per month – minimum joining time 3 months

3 months = $22.50

6 months = $45.00

12 months = $90.00

Visitor Membership

Visitors to the region are able to join the Library on a temporary basis (by paying a $15 refundable deposit) with restricted borrowing rights.
