Borrowing

Most items are issued for 4 weeks. There is no limit to the number of items you can borrow with the exception of some limitations in the Children’s Library.

Renewals
All items are renewable once by either telephoning the Library, asking at the Issue Desk, online via the OPAC Library Catalogue or by email; providing they have not been already renewed or reserved by another borrower.

Reservations

If an item is listed on our OPAC Library Catalogue but is onloan or held at another Branch you can put a reserve on the item to be held aside for you when it is returned. If an item is onloan you can reserve it either via our OPAC Library Catalogue (you will need a PIN to be able to do this), in person at any Library, by telephone or via email (there is a fee involved with reserving an online item), if the book says it’s available at any Branch Library please contact us and we will reserve it for you.

Inter-Library Loans Top of Page

When an item is not held in our Libraries we can usually borrow it via Inter-Library loan from another New Zealand Library.

We can sometimes borrow music CD’s and Educational videos, as well as obtain photocopies of particular articles from periodicals.

Housebound Service

If you are confined to your place of residence (either your own home, a rest home or a special accommodation home) or have difficultly getting about and cannot come to the Library we can provide a free Library delivery / collection service direct to your door.

Library staff will select books or other Library material and a volunteer will deliver the items to the Housebound borrower. Deliveries can be made to borrowers in their own homes or rest homes.

Items including Large Print or Ordinary Print books, Talking Books on tape or compact disc, Music on tape or compact disc, Videos, DVD’s and Magazines are all available to be borrowed. If you are interested in receiving the Housebound Service, or know someone who would be eligible, please contact us on 6842202 and a suitable time will be made for a Library Staff member to visit.
