Farm Training

Course Information
Timaru District council operates the Washdyke Training Farm
- a 60 hectare mixed farm, and provides training in practical
farming and labouring skills. The course is practical hands-on
training with a small element of theory included. The aim
of the course is to assist trainees to gain credits towards
a National Certificate in Agriculture level 2 and to prepare
trainees for employment or further training.

Full-time January to December

"Washdyke Training Farm of the Timaru District Council
is accredited by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority
under the provisions of the Education Act 1989 to provide
education and training and undertake assessment based on National
Certificate Units in Farming Skills"
Assessment
Assessment will be ongoing and based on National Unit Standards
in Agriculture - levels 1, 2 & 3
Eligibility
Those with low qualifications who are:
- recent school leavers or long-term registered unemployed
(26 weeks)
- those who are registered with Workbridge
- Domestic Purposes and Widows Benefit recipients (for at
least 4 years)
