Council's Environmental Health Unit is responsible for monitoring and enforcing specific statutory standards relating to public health and environmental health.

To achieve its responsibilities the unit:

  • has a licensing role which encompasses a range of subjects such as liquor licences, food premises licences, dog licences, hairdressers licences;
  • has a response role to inquiries from business enterprises, ratepayers, residents, and the general public in regard to environmental health issues;
  • has a monitoring role in regard to licences issued and certain specific environmental issues.
