We have a close relationship with our “friends” organisation, the South Canterbury Historical Society.
Society members support the Museum through attending and helping out with events and exhibition openings, and through providing funding assistance for particular projects.
Society members act as Museum advocates in the community, and provide a focus for members of the public who wish to become more involved with the Museum and local heritage.
The Museum has continued its relationship with the South Canterbury Branch New Zealand Society of Genealogists, whose research material is housed in the Museum’s research library.
Volunteers from the Branch assist with inquiries on Sunday afternoons in the Research Library at the Museum. Both the Historical Society and the Genealogists make regular use off the Museum’s meeting room.
