From April 2nd 2012
This exhibition features a selection of drawings and watercolours by Jock Fraser (1899-1974), an artist and teacher who lived in Timaru. Fraser served in World War II and many of the drawings on display were made while he was a prisoner of war in Italy. His work provides a poignant and unique glimpse into the daily lives of the prisoners as we head towards the commemoration of ANZAC day. The Aigantighe Art Gallery Collection contains over 100 works by Fraser, some of which will be on display in the House Gallery while others are presented in a video slideshow.

Had this not been done these artworks would have remained unseen. Many works which have been donated are not in ideal condition and this project ensured that these works amongst those in the worst condition could get urgent help.
