The Sunsational Challenge is back!

The Challenges

Sunsational Challenge Card

The challenge card has a variety of free activities for participants under the age of 18 to complete. After completing each indoor activity, participants will receive a stamp from the facility hosting the activity. Outdoor activities can be stamped off at any facility taking part.

Once participants have collected the required number of stamps they can present their card at the appropriate venue to earn rewards and go in the draw for prizes:

  • 3 stamps earns a free badge
  • 6 stamps earns a free swim
  • 9 stamps earns an entry in the prize draw

Activities will be hosted all over the district including Geraldine, Temuka, Pleasant Point, and Timaru.

Sunsational Photo Competition

There will also be a Sunsational social media photo competition which families can participate in while completing the Challenge Card. This competition is open to all ages.

To enter, post a picture of you or your family completing an activity on the Sunsational activities trail, and post the photo to either Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #Sunsational2024 (your page must be public for us to receive the entry). Alternatively email the image to sunsational@timdc.govt.nz.

The Details

Sunsational Challenge Card:

  • 1 challenge card per person
  • Open to anyone 18 and under
  • Stamps for outdoor activities can be collected from indoor venues
  • Free badge can be collected from South Canterbury Museum, Timaru District Libraries and Aigantighe Art Gallery by showing card with three completed activities by 31/01/2024
  • Free swim redeemable at CBay, Temuka, Pleasant Point and Geraldine Outdoor Pools by showing your six completed activities. Offer expires 9pm 31/01/2024. Pool Safe rules apply
  • One free badge and swim per challenge card only
  • Challenge card for prize draw to be returned to indoor venues by 31/01/2024
  • Winners drawn 8/2/2024

The Sunsational Photo Competition:

  • Open to all ages
  • Snap a pic
  • Post it on Facebook or instagram (your account must be public to count as an entry)
  • Uses the hashtag #Sunsational2024
  • OR send it to sunsational@timdc.govt.nz
  • Entries must be received by 31/01/2024
  • Winners drawn 8/2/2024

Terms and Conditions

Sunsational 2024 Competitions are run by Timaru District Council.  Prizes are stated as above. Winners will be drawn randomly and announced on the Timaru District Council Website.  Timaru District Council (the promoter) reserve the right to randomly select and announce the winners at their discretion, no correspondence will be entered into. If the winner can not be contacted or fails to collect the prize within a 10 working days, Timaru District Council reserves the right to redraw the prize.The prizes are not redeemable for cash.  The competition is open to NZ residents. Timaru District Council reserves the right to amend, vary, extend or discontinue the promotion at any stage, for any reason.  To the fullest extent permitted by law Timaru District Council will not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever (including but not limited to direct or consequential loss) or for personal injury as a result of challenge entry or winning any challenge prizes.  

All entries become the property of Timaru District Council and may be shared and used for promotional purposes. The promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook, Instagram or any other Social Network.

Council employees (including partners and children) are not eligible for the prize draws but are eligible to collect badge and free swim.
