Do you enjoy helping people, learning new skills and want to be part of an awesome team?

Become a Lifeguard for Timaru District Council.

You’ll need a keen eye to spot potential hazards, prevent incidents/accidents, provide a safe environment to patrons, enforce poolside discipline and be available to provide assistance at all times. A poolside super hero!

All applicants must be able to complete a swim test including:

  • Swimming 200m using any stroke within 6 minutes
  • Retrieving an object from the deepest part of the pool (3.5m)
  • Treading water for 5 minutes

Previous Lifeguard experience and a current Comprehensive First Aid certificate is preferred but not essential. If you don’t have lifeguarding experience but think you have the right attributes to be a Poolside Super Hero you can still apply. Full training will be provided to all successful applicants including:

  • New Zealand Pool Lifeguard Practicing Certificate NCEA Level 3 (40 credits)
  • Comprehensive First Aid
  • Oxygen Therapy
  • Opportunity for future training

There are fixed term part-time roles based at the Geraldine, Pleasant Point, Temuka or CBay pools until mid-March 2018. You’ll need to be available weekends, and be able to work extra hours to cover leave and busy periods. There is potential for permanent shifts at the end of these fixed term roles.

All applicants are required to be either a New Zealand Citizen or a New Zealand Permanent Resident.
