Geraldine Licensing Trust By-election 2019

A by-election is required to fill an extraordinary vacancy for the Geraldine Licensing Trust.

Nominations

Nominations for the above position open on Monday 25th November 2019 and must be made on the official nomination paper available at the following locations:

  • Timaru District Council offices, 2 King George Place, Timaru
  • Temuka Library, Service & Information Centre, 72 King Street, Temuka
  • Geraldine Library & Service Centre, 78 Talbot Street, Geraldine

Completed nomination documents must be received by the Electoral Officer no later than 12 noon on Monday 23 December 2019. Each nomination must be accompanied by a deposit of $200 incl GST, payable by eftpos, cash, cheque or online banking (See Candidate Information for details).

Candidates may submit a candidate profile statement and recent photograph for sending out with voting documents to electors, if an election is required. The requirements for profile statements and photos are set out in the candidate information booklet.

All nomination documents must be lodged together (i.e. nomination paper, candidate profile, photo, and deposit). Candidates should refer to the candidate information for further details.

Electoral Roll

A Preliminary Electoral Roll for the above by-election can be inspected at the locations mentioned above during normal office hours from 25 November to 23 December 2019.  Electors may enrol or amend their enrolment details on the Residential Electoral Roll by:

  • Visiting the Elections website
  • Completing an enrolment form available at Post Shops, public libraries or the Timaru District Council main office
  • Calling 0800 ENROL NOW (0800 36 76 56)

Updates to the Preliminary Electoral Roll close at 4pm on Monday 23 December 2019.

Election Details

If an election is required for this vacancy, it will be conducted by postal voting under the First Past the Post electoral system. The voting period will be from Monday 27 January 2020 to 12 Noon, Tuesday 18 February 2020. Should an election be required, the date of the election will be Tuesday 18 February 2020.
