The quality of our waterways is the responsibility of every person who lives in the district. There are lots of ways that we can protect the waterways from unnecessary pollution. Over Seaweek we are calling on the citizens of Timaru to become Stormwater Stars! Head to the main Stormwater webpage to find out how your actions might be impacting the water quality and what you can do to improve it.
Social Media Challenge [Extended]
What are you doing to help keep our waterways clean? Whether you pick up litter from the street, or plant some native trees we want to know about it! Post a picture on facebook or instagram of you doing something to improve the quality of water in your area with #seaweektimaru to enter the competition. We have 20 Z Carwash vouchers to give away! The competition closes at 11:59pm 31st of March. Winners will be chosen randomly and notified shortly after.
Seaweek Poster Competition [Extended]
With all your newfound stormwater knowledge create a poster that demonstrates the connection between the City, Stormwater and Sea and be into win two free surf lessons. Open to 18 years and under. Top entries will be included in the Courier Noticeboard.

Seaweek Poetry Competition
As an island nation we're deeply connected to the sea! The ocean, and how it affects us or how we impact it, have been important themes in poetry overtime.
Write a poem that reflects the theme of Seaweek. Connecting with our seas and associated whakatauki "Koau te moana, Ko te moana ko au'.
We would like to highlight the diverse connections and interactions we have with the sea which makes our lives so intertwined with the health of our ocean environment.
- Pre-school/ECE + Primary Years 1-4 - a class collective acrostic poem* using either the words 'Connections' or "ko au te moana'
- School Individual - Years 5-8 + Years 9-13
- Te reo Individual - Years 7-13
