Section 1: Aoraki/Mt Cook to Braemar Road

AORAKI / MOUNT COOK WEATHER

Section 1 (Aoraki–Braemar Road) is CLOSED due to significant damage and will not reopen for the long weekend, even if the weather subsides. Riders should start their journey from the Hayman Road carpark once it is safe to do so.

Section 3: Twizel to Lake Ōhau Lodge

TWIZEL WEATHER

The Ōhau Weir is CLOSED due to flooding. The Ōhau Lakeshore track has also been CLOSED due to people ignoring signs and attempting to cross the weir in flood.

Section 4: Lake Ōhau Lodge to Ōmarama

Contractors will be undertaking wilding pine removal on Section 4, around Freehold Creek, until approximately 30 November. Please follow all onsite signage.

Section 6: Otematata to Kurow

OTEMATATA WEATHER

Benmore Dam Road will be closed to all traffic on 5–6 November 2025 (with 7 November as a weather-dependent backup) from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm for scheduled maintenance by Meridian Energy.
