Straight from our Land Transport Team to you, here is our road closures for the week ahead.

Several of these are notices of work extensions caused by unexpected delays, such as recent poor weather.

Road Closed: Road Impacted and Exits off SH1 Closed Ewen Road, Temuka

Where: Single lane operation on King Street (SH1) at the Ewen Road intersection. Both exits off King Street onto Ewen Road will be closed.

When: Work will take place on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. (Wednesday, July 9, 2025, will be used as a contingency)

Why:  To undertake routine maintenance of water services

Additional information/Disruption:

• Wilmshurst Road or Godley Street should be used as exits off King Street
• No parking outside of night n day
• Service disconnection from night n day

Road Closed: Rimu Street, Timaru

Where: Rimu Street, Timaru.

When: The closure will be in place daily from approximately 7:00 am to 6:00 pm from Thursday, July 10, 2025, to Friday, July 18, 2025.

Why:  To allow safe access to the overhead powerlines which cross the road.

Additional information/Disruption:

• Residents' access will be maintained.
• Work will be carried out during the school holidays to minimise disruption.

Road Closure Extension Wooding Road, Woodbury

Where:  Wooding Road from Painton Road to Mees Road. (highlighted in green)

When: This closure will continue to be in place until the end of August 2025.

Why:  This closure is in relation to the Woodbury water main replacement project.

Additional information/Disruption:

• Residents' access will be maintained.
• Detours will be put in place to help guide road users; commuters should allow up to an additional 20 minutes of travel time.

Road Closure Extension Sterndale Valley Road, Pleasant Point

Where: Sterndale Valley Road from Monument Road to Timewell Road.

When: This closure is still in place, since June 10 and has been extended until 6:00 pm on Friday, July 7.

Why:  To undertake a box culvert replacement.

Additional information/Disruption: Residents' pedestrian access will be maintained

Road Closure Extension Stuart Street/Fraser Street intersection, Timaru Port

Where: Fraser Street/Stuart Street intersection, Timaru Port

When: This closure is still in place due to previous weeks rainfall as the work is weather dependent. The closure has been extended until 6:00 pm on Thursday July 31.

Why: Fraser Street upgrades.

Additional information/Disruption: Businesses will maintain access.
