The Caroline Bay Tea Rooms is getting a retro refresh, going back to a scheme similar to what it had in the 60s.

Starting Monday, January 13, The building that houses Sopheze on the Bay will receive a new paint job to match the seaside theme used for the Soundshell. This colour theme has been chosen to reflect images found of the area from the 1960’s/70’s.

Heritage NZ supports the painting and the chosen palette, which is from the Heritage NZ approved Heritage Collection. The work will be carried out by local contractor Todd Mudie Group and is expected to take approximately four weeks.

The building is being painted as part of maintenance and has not been repainted since around the 1990’s.
