Centennial Park Play Space Upgrade

Council is planning to upgrade and bring together the play equipment in Centennial Park (the Scenic Reserve). The new playground, which will bring together various items from the wider park and include newer elements, will create adventurous challenges for kids, and make it easier for parents to supervise them.

The removal of equipment around the park is expected to start on 14 April 2025. Following the removals, we'll then be reinstalling and upgrading items over the next three weeks.

This will provide a centralised play space on the same side of the lake as the BBQ and picnic area, making it easier for supervision and providing more family friendly consolidation in the BBQ and picnic area.

Parks and Recreation Manager Bill Steans said as some of the equipment was nearing the end of its life it was a good time to take a fresh look at the play spaces in the popular park.

"With the rise in volume of users within the park we thought it would be a good idea to bring the play equipment together on the same side of the lake as the other facilities.

"We will be relocating the basket swing from the western end of the park, reusing the UFO and swing set currently down the back of the new play space and there will be new play equipment added as well.

"Due to some items reaching the end of their lives, they will be leaving the park. This will include the wooden fort, the wooden swing set and the maypole."

Disruption during the work is expected to be minimal throughout the majority of Centennial Park, however access to the play space worksite will be restricted.

While work is underway, trucks and machinery will be operating as removals and relocations take place.

Signs, and barriers or cones will be used to guide and control park users at work sites. For your safety, please ensure you follow any signage.
