Timaru District Council is rolling out the welcome mat for the third year in a row hosting Welcoming Week 2025.

Welcoming Week is to celebrate all newcomers - whether they be migrants, former refugees, or international students and shines a light on the individuals, groups and organisations who work tirelessly to ensure everyone feels supported, connected and visible in our communities, no matter their background Community Partnerships Team Leader Jess Hurst said.

"While these events are to celebrate newcomers, they are for designed to include people who may have resided in Timaru for 10 days, 10 years or 100," Jess said.

"The events are a great way to get to know the people who make up our community, it is a great way to get to know the people that are your neighbours, workmates and sport team members."

Welcoming week runs from September 5 to 14. With a colouring competition running until XX and the prizes have been donated by Movie Max Timaru.
