Soundshell gets a new lick of paint based on previous colours

The Soundshell has had a pre-Christmas retro glow-up, using colours similar to what it had in the 1970s.

The stage was due for a repaint, and seeing a photo of an event from the 70s the property team was inspired to match the seaside theme it once had.

“We worked alongside Kevin Fahey from the Caroline Bay Association. We had two CGI renderings with two different blues based on the 1970s photo we had,” said Manager of Property Services and Client Representative Nicole Timney

“Both Kevin and the team, led by the Property Facilities Officer decided the darker blue suited the new playground and the area.

“It was very exciting to have it all ready before the Christmas on the Bay event in early December, it was a great opportunity to debut the paint job and for eagle eyed people in the community to see the change.

“It is also great timing as the bay becomes a busy spot over the summer, and it looks great from up at the Piazza and the Bayhill.

“Following suggestions from the Property Facilities Officer, we also decided to put a canvas banner to cover the fencing we have across the stage this has tied the overall seaside theme together nicely.”

As well as a new paint job the team are currently looking at lighting in the curvature of the soundshell stage, as well as a new canvas awning which covers the wider stage area.

The stand of shrubs on each side of the building will be pruned and tidied up to enable better access to the building.
