Galbraith Footbridge Replacement

10 Nov 2023

#INFRASTRUCTURE MATTERS

Temuka residents who visit the Taumatakahu Stream Reserve regularly will see some work take place as we replace the Galbraith Footbridge over the next four weeks.

We are replacing the existing bridge with a wider and sturdier structure to allow users to cross the Taumatakahu Stream safely and with ease.  We will also be levelling out the footpath approaches to the bridge to allow better accessibility for users.

Temuka Community Board chair Charles Scarsbrook said he is very excited for the replacement.

"I remember this being built, and have biked over it many times over the last 50 odd years, good to see if will get a new lease of life".

Work will commence on Monday November 13 and will take approximately four weeks. Extreme Caution will be taken to protect the wildlife that reside in/near the Taumatakahu Stream Reserve.

Thank you for your co-operation while this exciting project is being done.
