Summer days are here and getting to Caroline Bay just got a whole lot easier.

With the great success of the first MyWay parklet on Stafford Street, we have installed a new MyWay parklet at the Bay. As the weather warms up and summer holidays begin, Caroline Bay will be one of Timaru's busiest destinations! With the skatepark, carnival, the pool and the much-anticipated CPlay playground that’s opening. It’s the perfect place to spend the day out.

The parklet is a replica of the parklet on Stafford Street – this relocatable structure has been 100% funded by Waka Katahi New Zealand Transport Agency and will be located between the skatepark and miniature trains, meaning there will be plenty of shade and seating while you wait for your ride!

"Collaborating with Timaru District Council on this project has been an effortless journey, truly enjoyable to work as one team on this new parklet install," Bianca Kathan Community Transport Advisor at Environment Canterbury said.

"It's really exciting bringing MyWay to the Bay, it has been great working with the local team at ECAN and Ritchies to make this parklet possible. As well as a huge shoutout to Coombridge Industries for the painting and install of the structure, Timaru Signs for the parklet sign writing and Bruce Arras from the Caroline Bay Association for the loaning of the forklift and driver at no charge! Shelley Wilson Active Transport Project Manager said.

Please be advised that this new stop is a trial and we will be accessing the use of the stop and the traffic flow once it is in action.
The new Caroline Bay destination will be included in the MyWay service from Friday 1st December 2023.
