Where is Bob going?

#INFRASTRUCTURE MATTERS

There's been a bit of chat about where the Statue of Bob Fitzsimmons is going with the upgrade of Strathallan Corner.
Just for clarity that while there has been some chat about other places he could go, the design always ensured he had a pride of place in the square, reflecting the pride we have in the man himself!

Bob Fitzsimmons deserves his place of pride in our community. The bronze statue, generously gifted by the late Sir Bob Jones, is a landmark that recognises Fitzsimmons’ extraordinary achievements: world heavyweight champion, Guinness World Record holder as the lightest ever to do so, and a Timaru boy who went on to become one of New Zealand’s sporting legends.

Pulling him out from behind the fountain and putting him right up front in the square will ensure he's seen by everyone that passes by.
Meanwhile, Bob is being safely stored until he can make is return to the heart of the city.
