Construction Season Update:

With spring now here, we’re entering the ideal weather window for road maintenance and construction.

This means you’ll notice an increase in roadworks and temporary traffic management across both local roads and state highways.

For everyone’s safety, please take extra care when travelling through or around worksites.

You can also check the Timaru District Roadworks Map, which shows live and upcoming planned road impacts across the district, powered by myWorksites.

This is a new tool that we are using, and we’ll continue to refine it to make it as useful and effective as possible.

Road Closure Pages Road, Timaru

Where: Pages Road between Mountainview Road and Morgans Road, including the Kellands Hill intersection.

When: The closure will be in place from 6:00 am on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, to approximately 6:00 pm on Friday, September 19, 2025.

This timeframe INCLUDES contingency dates; the road closure will be removed if the work is finished sooner.

The highlighted section of Pages Road will be reduced to one lane with portable traffic lights in place on Monday, September 8, 2025, while preparation work is undertaken.

Why: Road surface renewal

Road Closure: Wooding Road, Woodbury

Where: Wooding Road from Painton Road to Mees Road.

When: The closure will be in place from 6:00 am on Monday, September 8, 2025 until approximately 6:00 pm on Monday, September 15, 2025.

Why:  This closure is in relation to the Woodbury water main replacement project.

Road Closure King Street, Pareora

Where: From #9 King Street to the Timaru – Pareora Highway (SH1) Intersection

When: The closure will be in place from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday, starting Wednesday, September 10, 2025, and continuing through to Friday, October 3, 2025.

Why: Water network upgrades

Road Closure Hornbrook Street, Temuka

Where: Hornbrook Street – From Denmark Street to Domain Avenue

When: The closure will be in place from 6:00 am on Monday, September 8, 2025, to approximately 8:00 pm on Friday, September 12, 2025.

Why: Underground duct and cable installation for Alpine Energy

Road Closed: Resurfacing Programme

The resurfacing programme will begin on Monday, September 8, 2025.

The following roads/streets are scheduled for chipsealing during the week, with road closures in place while work is carried out.

In most cases, with each site takes 1–3 days to complete, depending on the length of road
