Eniwa Exchange applications for 2026

Timaru District Council is on the hunt for three secondary school students to go on a three week escorted educational and cultural exchange to Eniwa, Japan in June 2026.

The Timaru District has four sister cities, two cities called Orange, one in New South Wales Australia, and one in California in the United States of America. In Weihai in the Shandong Province, People's Republic of China and Eniwa Japan.

Eniwa is Timaru's youngest sister city, established in 2008.  Eniwa is a city located in Ishikari, Hokkaidō, the Northern Island of Japan. During the Meiji period pioneers came from the town of Waki, located in Yamaguchi prefecture, and built the foundation of what is today Eniwa. Today's city was founded on November 1, 1970.
