Multicultural Festival 2024

#CULTURE + LIFESTYLE

The Community Development team had a fantastic day representing Timaru District Council and Welcoming Communities at the Multicultural Festival on March 2. They were joined by representatives from the Climate Change, Emergency Management, and Timaru District Libraries teams, as well as Councillor Owen Jackson.

“The event was a huge success, with over 200 interactions with newcomers and locals,” said Community Experience Manager Claire Barlow.

“Each conversation was very constructive, and we appreciate everyone who came by to see us. One well-received activity was a ‘Where in the world are you from’ map, which showcased the diverse cultures that make up our district. It was great to hear why people from all corners of the globe chose our district as their home.

The weather was great, and the positive interaction with the public has our team excited for next year’s event already.
