AD Hally Trust

Community Funding

The Albert Daniel Hally Trust fund is administered by Perpetual Guardian.  The fund is distributed according to the wishes of the late Mr Hally, to support charitable institutions, community groups and organisations that have as their charitable objective(s) for the benefit to the people of South Canterbury.

What can be funded?

Under the Charities Commission there are four categories of recognised charitable purposes:

  • The relief of poverty
  • The advancement of education
  • The advancement of religion
  • Other purposes beneficial to the community

Application Process

Perpetual Guardian administers the fund and the application process.  The Timaru District Council provides a local liaison role for the applicants and applications are considered by the AD Hally Trust committee.

Application are now required to be completed online via the Perpetual Guardian Funding Hub.

Perpetual Guardian will acknowledge all applications and advise applicants of the outcome of their application (communication via email).

Regrettably, due to the number of applications received, we are unable to provide detailed feedback on unsuccessful applications.

Please note the decision of the Trustees is final and not subject to any appeals process.

Successful applicants will have the grant paid into the organisation’s nominated bank account within ten working days of all compliance documentation required by Perpetual Guardian.  Information on the requirements will be provided to successful applicants at the time of approval notification.

Being registered will enable you to log in, apply for funding and check the status of your application.  You will only need to complete the registration process once for all future applications.

Closing Dates

There are two funding rounds every year. In 2024 the dates are:

Fund Size


Around $30,000 per funding round - varies each year depending on investment earnings.
