Community Board Targeted rate funds vary depending on the targeted rate collected annually and the amount unspent in reserves. Applications can be received year-round and are all subject to available funds at the time of the application.

The Community Board Targeted rate funds are specific to their respective communities and is intended to support community led initiatives, supported by the Community Board. The respective Community Boards have full discretion over allocation of the funds.

Application Process

  • Submit a completed application form to the Timaru District Council.
  • Community Board Targeted Rate Application forms are now available on the Smarty Grants website
  • When your application is submitted you will receive an automatic confirmation email that the application has been received from SmartyGrants. If you do not receive an email confirmation, please check to see if the email has been treated as junk.
  • Applicants will be notified which Community Board meeting their application will be presented to and are invited to attend the meeting   to present further information and /or clarify the application.
  • Applicants will be advised in writing of the decision and if an accountability report is required at the completion of the project.

This fund is open continuously.
