Management Plans

Many parks and reserves are covered by Management Plans. In some cases these are required by the Reserves Act 1977, but in all cases they are helpful to the Council, users and other interested parties in describing how a particular park will be managed.

Plan Sections

  • Introduction - this describes the site
  • Management Objectives - aspirations for the park
  • Management Policies - details on how it will be managed
  • Appendix - other relevant information such as plans

Preparation Process

  • Notify intention to prepare manament plan
  • Prepare a draft plan
  • Advertise draft plan and call for submissions
  • Hear submissions
  • Amend draft plan as necessaryAdopt plan
  • Plans are reviewed on a cyclic basis, usually every 10 years
