What About Items That Can’t Go in My Bin?

Waste Minimisation

What about items that can't go in my bins?

A Transfer Station is the place to go for items that can't fit or aren't allowed in your wheelie bins.

Items that can go to a transfer station include:

  • Hazardous waste (domestic quantities)
  • Reusable items
  • Recyclable and compostable materials
  • Polystyrene
  • Broken bricks and concrete
  • E-scraps (anything electronic or with a cable or cord)
  • Metals

Please note: Each transfer station has its own list of what it can accept, so make sure you check before taking your items there.

The Crows Nest will also take some items that can’t be put in a wheelie bin. Based at 57 Redruth Street, this opportunity shop is a great place to drop furniture and all good quality reusable items.
