Richard Pearse Airport

Richard Pearse Airport, also known as Timaru Airport is located on Falvey Road, 12.6km north of Timaru. It is the main airport in South Canterbury, with daily flights between Timaru and Wellington.

The hours of business operate with in/outbound flights.

Daily flights are operated by Air New Zealand between Timaru and Wellington.

Airport terminal facilities include:

  • Vending machines
  • Baggage claim area

Maps and tourist information is available in the terminal. The airport terminal is smoke-free.

A parking area is located next to the terminal building. Our standard Airport Fees and Charges will then apply.

Aviation Information

Timaru Airport is uncontrolled airspace but a Mandatory Braodcast Zone (MBZ) exists.

Richard Pearse Airport covers a land area of around 205 hectares, comprising one sealed night capable runway (Rwy 02/20) 1,280 metres long and two grass runways suitable for light aircraft. Fuel facilities are available from RD petroleum  and GOfuel AvGas/Jet A1 via swipe cards.

Landing fees are payable. Fees can be paid by electronic transfer. Airport Fees and Charges
Unpaid landing fees are invoiced with a $20 administration fee.
