Proposed District Plan

The Proposed Timaru District Plan was notified on 22 September 2022.   The Summary of Decisions Requested on the Proposed District Plan (Summary of Submissions) was renotified  on 4 March 2024 due to a number of errors in the original summary previously advertised.   The Timaru District Council invited further submissions to be lodged, either amendments to previous further submissions or new further submissions, during the period 4 March 2024 to 18 March 2024.

Over the past 18 months Hearings A – I have been held on the Timaru Proposed District Plan at the Timaru District Council under a Hearings Panel of 6 commissioners.

The final two hearings, H and I addressed Across-plan submissions and Natural Hazards Further Submissions.  Hearing I was held after further submission was called on a revised Flood Assessment Area map.

The Panel has issued 52 minutes in total to date with directions and notifications to submitters.

When ongoing Panel deliberations are completed a draft decision report is due to be issued on 3 February 2026 and after a review period for s42A authors and submitters to provide technical feedback, a final decision will issue on 22 March 2026.
