Travellers using Timaru Airport can now get on-line at no cost following the launch of free wifi throughout the terminal.
People flying to and from The Richard Pearse Airport can enjoy 100MB of wifi free of charge following the launch of the service this week. It is part of a series of improvements taking place at the council run airport, which will also include car park extensions and an upgrade of the terminal.
Timaru Airport Manager, Ashley Harper, said that the service was one that business travellers valued highly, as it enabled them to use time at the airport more productively.
“With free wifi offered in public areas and venues throughout Timaru, it made sense that we make it available at the airport,” he said.
“This will enable visitors to the airport to check emails, send and receive documents, grab a podcast for their flight or upload their pictures to Facebook, fast and free.
“The regular air services to Wellington are already of great benefit to South Canterbury, and these upgrades are all about ensuring that travellers enjoy the convenience of flying locally and a top class experience at the airport.”
Timaru Airport is run owned and operated by Timaru District Council. Air New Zealand runs daily direct flights to Wellington from the airport.
