Timaru, Mackenzie and Waimate District Councils give notice pursuant to section 90(1) of the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 that it has adopted its provisional Joint Local Alcohol Policy (LAP) and the LAP has therefore ceased to be provisional. Council has resolved that the date the LAP will come into force is 24 March 2016.
The LAP can be viewed on the Timaru District Council web site at timaru.govt.nz/lap or a paper copy can be obtained by visiting Timaru, Mackenzie and Waimate District Council offices or libraries during office hours.
The LAP’s main points include:
* Maximum On-Licence Hours
Monday to Sunday, 7.00am to 1.00am the following day (Function Centres, Restaurants and Cafes)
Monday to Sunday, 7.00am to 3.00am the following day (Taverns, Hotels, Bars and Nightclubs)
* Maximum Off-Licence Hours
Monday to Sunday 7.00am to 9.00pm (24 hours per day for `in bedroom mini-bars’ in hotels)
* Maximum Club-Licence Hours
Monday to Sunday 9.00am to 1.00am the following day
Special Licences:
A maximum of 20 events per premise per year with a maximum of 15 events per 6 month period.
* One Way Door
All premises licensed to open to 3.00am shall apply a one way door restriction at 2.00am on Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning for any event exceeding 100 persons.
Various discretionary conditions may also be included on any licence granted by the District Licensing Committee for all license types.
* Will come into force 90 days from the first publication of this notification
